Wi-Fi Calling allows your smartphone to make and receive voice calls and text messages over a broadband internet connection rather than a traditional cellular network. This feature is completely free on most carriers and acts as a “set-and-forget” solution to fix dropped calls in basements, thick-walled office buildings, or areas with poor cellular coverage. Setting up the feature takes less than two minutes, but the steps vary depending on whether you use an iPhone or an Android device. For Apple iPhone (iOS)
Ensure your iPhone is actively connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. Open the Settings app from your home screen.
Tap on Cellular (or Phone depending on your exact iOS version). Select Wi-Fi Calling.
Toggle the switch for Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone to the On position.
Follow the prompt to enter or confirm your emergency E911 address. For Android Phones (Samsung, Google Pixel, Motorola, etc.)
Because Android menus look slightly different depending on your phone’s manufacturer, you can use either of these common paths: Via Network Settings: Open Settings →right arrow
Tap Connections (Samsung) or Network & Internet (Pixel/Motorola) →right arrow Locate Wi-Fi Calling and toggle it On. Via the Phone App: Open your default Phone app →right arrow Tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner →right arrow Select Settings →right arrow Toggle Wi-Fi Calling to On.

When you enable Wi-Fi calling, your phone will always force you to type in an emergency physical address. This step is critical because cell towers cannot track your precise physical location when you route a call entirely over a Wi-Fi router. If you ever need to call 911 or emergency services and cannot speak, first responders will automatically be dispatched to the physical address you saved in these settings. How to Verify It Is Working
